Missions Trip
Our Trip
Our missions trip will be happening this July 28 - August 10. God has provided some incredible people to be a pioneer team in Tanzania to initiate three GO Projects: Compassion, Leadership Development, and Church Planting in the village of Kigoma, Tanzania. The main purpose of this trip is to encourage, motivate and mobilize lay leaders and pastors of local churches for the extension of God's Kingdom.
Day 1
July 30, 2019 by Ivan Arlantico Jambo, Richmond Baptist from Kigoma! After 50 hours of traveling. Stay tuned for the next blog post about God’s grace and our adventures.
Day 2
In the morning the Tanzania Mission Team headed out to one of the villages in Kigoma called Manyovu to hold the leadership seminars at the new church of Hope of the Nations, and go for door to door Evangelism and help in the kids club. LEADERSHIP SEMINARS There were about 30 to 40 village pastors and lay leaders attended the seminar from different churches. The Tanzania mission team had an awesome time connecting with them and teaching on topics such as biblical leadership and spiritual disciplines. DOOR TO DOOR EVANGELISM The Tanzania mission team were sent two by two in the village and proclaim the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. The team had a great experience and felt the leading of the Holy Spirit that the people in the village are so receptive to the gospel and some gave their lives to Christ. Thanks and we will keep updating – Kamal
Day 3
Day 3 of our seminars in the area of Manyovu! Today they wanted to honor us and sang a song we knew so we can sing along in English. In whatever language it may be, the truth remains: there is nothing like the blood of Jesus! ❤️
As part of the activities, we also got involved with their Kids Club — think soccer camp + vacation bible school. If you’re wondering, that’s Philippians 4:13 in Swahili 🙌🏻
Pastor Don was also invited to speak at the Youth Group today. This meeting was in someone’s backyard — since the place they usually meet at (the Bible College) is under construction, the youth volunteer their houses to host every week. Most of these are graduates from the Kids Club and continue growing through the different Hope of the Nations programs.
Thank you for your prayers, church family! Remember when we said we traveled for 50 hours and had lost our checked-in luggage? By God’s grace, they’ve made it to us! It was actually cheaper for the team to have “lost” the luggage and had the airline cover all the shipping costs to get them to the village — God is really on the move!!! (Yes, Justine embodies how we all felt when they arrived.) Blessings! – Ivan
Day 4
Tanzania Mission Team had a great time to connect with the pastors and graduates of hope of the nations and new church plant.
Praise the Lord! This is the whole family that came to Christ today at our day to day Evangelism. – Derek
Day 7
“I can do all things through Him who strengthens me” — it’s Philippians 4:13 in Swahili! Teaching kids from the village of Kasangezi.
Can you spot the “wazungu” (foreigners)?
This is what it’s like going door-to-door in the village of Kasangezi — we started talking to Imelda, and everyone who walks past us just gets welcomed and they sit down! We were able to encourage Imelda (the home owner) to share the gospel to her neighbors. And two of them came to Christ!
Justine teaching on being good stewards of the time God has given us. (That’s Shukuru translating everything to Swahili).
