LOCAL Outreach Mission - Overview

Here at Richmond Baptist, we practice living a life of kindness as a primary expression of divine worship. We strive to live by our core values: showing compassion and loving people.

Being people who care about others is key to living like Christ. Together we can impact more people with the love of Jesus and by meeting their physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs. Together we can impact more people with the love of Jesus. We seek to glorify the name of Jesus and to make a difference in peoples’ lives through the love of God.

Our CommUnityAction68 ministry has several on-going outreach projects that serve our local community. If you are interested to find out more about our Community Action68 ministry or to get involved, Please contact Pastor Kamal at kamal@richmondbaptist.com

CommUnityAction68

On Thursdays, at 7:30 am- 8:30 am, in partnership with Richmond Food Bank, we serve breakfast to the students of Blundell elementary school in our neighborhood. Some kids from this community are from low income families.

Breakfast Club Canada says, “roughly one in five kids go to school on empty stomach”. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day that gives noursihment to brains for learning and function well at school. If you would like to serve breakfast and demonstrate the love and compassion of our Lord Jesus Christ to little kids, this is an amazing ministry to get involved.

S.A.L.T. Team

Due to the unprescedented evolving situaton with COVID-19, all the S.A.L.T. events at Richmond Baptist Church have been postponed until further notice. The main objective of the S.A.L.T. team is to engage our city and share the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ in a creative and comfortable way.

What is S.A.L.T.?
S.A.L.T. is a simple acronym, method, that helps you to come out from your comfort zone, share the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and interact with people in our city. In Eph. 4:1, Paul says, “…I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.” Further, in Matthew 5:13, Jesus says, “You are the salt of the earth...”

We are called to be the salt of the earth by sharing the Good News of Jesus and being a blessing to people around us: in our families, in our workplaces and in our neighborhoods. If you would like to be a part of this S.A.L.T. Team and pray for our city, your unsaved loved ones, and learn on “how to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and demonstrate His love, grace and compassion, please contact Pastor Kamal at kamal@richmondbaptist.com

GLOBAL Outreach Mission - Overview

There are about 2.7 billion people on earth today who have never heard the name of Jesus, living enslaved to idols that have no power to give them hope and peace. Therefore, we at Richmond Baptist strive to reach the most unreached in those countries with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The 2025 vision that God has given to the GO Team of Richmond Baptist is to explore, initiate & establish its core ministries; Compassion, Disciple Making & Planting New Churches in three developing countries. We are thankful because in 2019, God alrady started His mission work here at Richmond Baptist in partnership with Hope of the Nations in Kigoma, Tanzania, Africa. Plesase click out our Tanzania Mission Trip! We are also dreaming and praying that God would open doors in two more countries so that we would continue and carry on His Great Commission in those countries.

In Matthew 28, Jesus has given us the Great Commission, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations….” We are called to reach the ends of the earth for His glory. We believe that God has called each of us as maturing followers of Jesus Christ to be missionaries not only here in our beautiful city of Richmond, reaching our colleagues, friends, family, and neighbours with His Gospel but He has also called us to the “ends of the earth,” or to Global Outreach Missions. There are many unreached nations around the world that need to hear about Jesus. Richmond Baptist is committed to help train, equip, pray, serve, and give financially to what God is already doing in those countries.

Apollo Midigo – Bio

Apollo was born in Kakamega Kenya in 1958. He was raised in a non-Christian home but growing up was given permission to attend church. His mother's parents were born again Christians and prayed consistently for Apollo. When he was 13 years old, Apollo had a Christian teacher who invited him to attend a crusade in the village. It was at that crusade that he learned that spending eternity in heaven could not be earned by obeying and following his parent's authority, which he had thought all his life. He came to the full realization of his need for Christ in his life and accepted Him as his Savior.

Soon after accepting Christ, Apollo sensed the Lord's moving in his life in specific ways and felt a calling into full time ministry. He studied at Moffat Bible College in Kenya, graduated from Ontario Bible College in 1987 (BTh), graduated from Ontario Theological Seminary in 1990 (MTS - Counselling), and studied for his M.Div. in Counselling at Tyndale University graduated May 2009. Apollo spent 8 years with World Vision Canada as a Refugee Counsellor, in Toronto, Canada and served with Partners International Canada in Kenya for 9 years where he taught at Kapsabet Bible College Kenya and Moffat Bible College, Kenya. During this time, he travelled with students around Kenya doing evangelistic ministries and seeing many of all ages come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Along with English, Apollo also speaks Swahili, Luhya, Luo, Kisii and Kipsigis, and has studied both Vietnamese and Spanish briefly. Apollo is most interested in missionary service involving teaching, counseling and evangelism based on his qualifications and his passions. In DRC, he learned French and Lingala languages.

Lois Midigo – Bio

In contrast to Apollo, Lois was raised in a loving Christian home and remembers well the importance of a Christ-centered life. She was born in Kijabe Kenya in 1962. At the age of 16, Lois put her faith in Christ after hearing a speaker that came to her school with the message that salvation was not gained by going to church but by a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Lois’ education includes her Teacher’s Certificate (primary) from Eregi Teachers Training College in 1984 and her BA in Christian Education from Tyndale University College in 1993. She can speak Kiswahili and Kikuyu. She sees her purpose as a missionary to reach those unsaved with God’s word, and desires to teach and counsel women and young people. She states, “My call to the mission field came as a result of my parent's love and support to international students at Bible College and national missionaries serving in the mission field.

Since they could not travel outside the country, they believed God calling them to pray and support those serving God in different capacities. As I grew up and watched their love for God and God's people, it activated my desire one day to go in the mission field and make an impact in people's lives. Little did I know that God will fulfill that desire in my life by leading me to marry my husband who had the same call and vision.” Lois can speak Kikuyu, Swahili and learned French and Lingala in DRC.
